Sports without ball

Bo-taoshi

This mixture of rugby and catching the flag has been practiced in Japan since 1945.

It's a sport where you literally have to knock the pole down. Two teams of one hundred and fifty people each, seventy-five attackers and seventy-five defenders, fight to bring down a pole between three and five meters high, with a person at the top. In order not to get hurt, the players wear protective helmets, although it is not only on the head where they receive the hard blows.

Still, professional competition is held by newly enlisted cadets from the Japan Self-Defense Forces Academy, who compete during the school's anniversary celebration.

Eukonkanto

In Finland, Sweden and Estonia they have made carrying a wife a sport.

This competition consists of carrying a woman on a piggyback while going through an obstacle course of 253.5 meters in length in the shortest possible time. Various types of load are allowed: carrying the woman on the shoulder, face down with the legs on the shoulders or simply on the back. Of course, there is a minimum weight established for the load, of 49 kg, this is important because whoever wants to carry a woman with a higher weight will be rewarded, since the final prize consists of giving the winner that weight in liters of beer. In addition, the funniest couple, the best dressed and the strongest bearer receive a special prize.
